Ethnomedicinal plants uses for the treatment of respiratory disorders in tribal District North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Pakistan Authors

Background: The current survey aimed to assess the traditional knowledge and use of therapeutic plants treat various respiratory disorders by healers. local communities District North Waziristan are reliant on plant species for their primary health care needs. Methods: Ethnobotanical data were collected through semi-structured interviews. A sum 130 informants (107 male 23 female) selected randomly. was quantitatively analyzed using Use Value (UV), Relative Citation Frequency (RFC), Fidelity Level (FL). Results: total 56 related 32 families recorded which used cure 24 disorders. Lamiaceae (7 species) most prevalent family, followed Asteraceae (5 species), Moraceae solanaceae (4 each, 8 have (2 each), while remaining 20 has only (1 each).The dominant growth form herbs (53.57%), leaves (28.57%) leading part in remedies preparation method medications decoctions (42.86%), all administered orally. with highest values Ephedra procera (0.87), Morus nigra (0.86), RFC (0.36), Cydonia oblonga (0.35), (0.34). maximum reported may indicate possible presence important bioactive compounds need a search potential new drugs Conclusions: study accomplishes that indigenous yet prefer over allopathic drug curing different However this valuable information is limited elder people.
